THE NAME OF THE LORD
ANDREW

Andrew became Jesus' first disciple.  His method of introducing others to Christ was by inviting them, one-on-one, into His presence.  Not one to step out on stage to proclaim the good news, Andrew took a more personalized, individual approach to share his discovery of the Messiah with others, including his brother Simon (later to become the apostle Peter).  He also brought to Jesus the boy whose loaves and fish were miraculously multiplied to feed 5,000 followers.

"The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, "We have found the Messiah" (that is, the Christ).  And he brought him to Jesus."  -- John 1:41-42

I have come with news of the promise
The one we have been waiting for
And to bring to you this life-giving truth
I come in the name of the Lord

Those who thirst have learned of his mercy
And dream of eternal reward
For He feeds them all when they heed His call
And come in the name of the Lord

For the Lord has come and we are His children
Free from the prison we knew
Won't you come and see
The miracles our God can do

Who are we to think we are worthy
Of grace we could never afford?
We are those who are one, the daughters and sons
Who come in the name of the Lord.

For the Lord has come and we are His children
Free from the prison we knew
Won't you come and see
The things the Almighty can do

Take this gift; discover His power
For He is our shield and our sword
Because now is the time and this is the hour
To come hand in hand with your sisters and brothers
Come with your thirst and with all of your hunger
Come in the name that's above any other
Come in the name of the Lord.
